Important information about 2022 ACA Health Insurance Open Enrollment
As 2022 ACA Open Enrollment begins for 2022 health insurance, there are several important and critical things to know and to use. So please read through this article to help you navigate and succeed with your health care coverage. And then you can enjoy a more successful 2022!
Can I apply for a subsidy?
This assistance generally only extends to families with incomes up to 400% of Federal Poverty Level, but this cap was raised for 2022. People with 400% of Federal Poverty Level income or more are eligible for ACA health insurance assistance if a referral plan costs more than 9% of the household income.
What information do I need to provide for a 2022 ACA health insurance plan?
You should have the following information on hand for each person to be enrolled in ACA health insurance:
- Name, email, address, social security number, date of birth and proof of legal residence status.
- Family size and income (to apply for subsidized premium or sharing reductions). A variety of documents can be used to test your income, including pay stubs, W2 forms, most recent tax return, etc.
- Coverage and premium details for any employer-sponsored plan that is available to your family (regardless of whether you are enrolled in that plan or declining).
- Payment information that the insurer may use to collect your premiums.
- A list of medications that person is taking and any preexisting conditions. Each insurance policy has its own formula (Covered List of Drugs) so you’ll want to see which of the drugs you need most the plan covers.
When will my 2022 ACA compliant health insurance plan go into effect?
The Open Enrollment Period for having national health insurance coverage in 2022 begins on November 1st.
However, registration must be completed by December 15th so that the plan will take effect on January 1, 2022. Enrollments completed after this period will not be effective until February 1st or later.
If you’re currently uninsured and are waiting for a health insurance plan to take effect, a short-term medical plan can help you fill a gap if you’re reasonably healthy. This can give you some peace of mind in the event of a sudden emergency before your new coverage takes effect.
Is there a penalty for not having 2022 health insurance?
There is no penalty from the federal government to not have insurance by 2022, but you still need coverage! The risk you take in not having insurance is simply not worth it. That’s why the leading reason people end up bankrupt is associated with medical bills.
Can I renew the current ACA’s health insurance plan for 2022?
If you’re already enrolled in the ACA for your health care options through Healthcare.Gov, you can auto-renew that plan for 2022. However, in most cases we do not recommend this. You may make a serious mistake by just renewing your plan. Your existing plan may have changed, the network may have evolved, or you could be paying much more than you ought to pay.
Can I see 2022 health insurance plans and prices?
Yes! For rates and policy options, this information is available for you in person or over the phone. You can make an appointment with a health insurance agent who will help you choose the best options available and find out which one is best for you.
Our agents continue to assist our clients by providing advice, answering their questions related to billing, usage, complaints and appeals.

While this varies from county to county in Florida carriers include: Aetna (NEW), Ambetter, AvMED, Bright Health, Cigna, First Health, Florida Blue (EPO & HMO) networks, Molina, Oscar, and United Healthcare (NEW).
